Le Boat is taking steps toward more sustainable self-drive boating holidays in Europe and Canada with a new green fuel initiative and fleet upgrades for 2025.
They’re starting to use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel across more of their boats, aiming to reduce carbon emissions without compromising on the travel experience. The first of their new lineup, the Liberty, is a self-drive cruiser designed for a relaxed, eco-friendly way to explore Europe’s waterways. This addition and 400 Delphia boats from Groupe Beneteau are part of Le Boat’s £100 million investment in a more sustainable fleet.
The Liberty is set to launch next year in France, the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands, with plans for electric boats through a partnership with Delphia.
“Our sustainability commitment is central,” says Andrew Bromilow, Project Delivery Director at Le Boat. “Transitioning to HVO is a key step toward lowering our environmental impact so our customers can enjoy an eco-friendly trip with the same level of comfort.”
Le Boat’s fleet on the Lot River in France runs on HVO fuel, with partial HVO usage in their Dutch fleet and more tests underway in Ireland. They want to bring this shift to Canada and beyond over the next 15–20 years.
Le Boat also supports marine conservation through its partnership with the Blue Marine Foundation, backing initiatives for recycling and eco-friendly practices across its operations.
